The collection consists of six items. Includes two letters to Donald S. Klopp: 2 June 1938, concerning corrections to Klopp's thesis, written on Gruber, returned through the mail; 30 Dec. 1938, with thanks for a Christmas card and a short verse describing the card. Also, two original poems on three pages: The race, composed in 1928, updated with a final stanza in 1938; Wuh Geht's Naus Fun Doh? May 1939, with English translation on separate sheet, Whither go and when? Aug. 1939. Also, German translation of stanzas from Tennyson's Crossing the bar, Oct. 1942, with note on translation.

Michael A. Gruber was a German-American poet, translator, teacher, and genealogist. He was born in Pennsylvania, moving to Washington D.C. to take a job in Civil Service.
